Cactus Candy a Go-to for Arizona Gift Baskets and Corporate Trays

Posted by John Wolfe on 22nd May 2019

You can go all over the United States and you won’t find Cactus Candy.

That’s because Cactus Candy – the delicious, chewy squares with a touch of tart – comes from the prickly pear cactus, which is exclusive to the deserts of Arizona.

If folks want to “Share-izona,” as we call it, prickly pear treats are a must for any welcome bag, gift basket, or corporate event tray.

Sibley’s West offers prickly pear candy from both the Cactus Candy Co. of Phoenix and Cheri’s Desert Harvest of Tucson. They come in boxes with 4, 12, and 24 squares.

Among the other cactus candy goodies with the prickly pear juice are prickly pear lollipops, prickly pear taffy, prickly pear licorice, prickly pear chocolate bars, prickly pear trail mix, and prickly pear sticks.

The juice is also used to flavor popcorn!

The prickly pear display at Sibley’s West includes jelly, marmalade, salsa, salad dressing, hot sauce and BBQ sauce. There are even prickly pear teas.

Of course, the prickly pear syrup is great for pancakes – or margaritas!

There are also suppliers that use the juice in soaps and lotions.

Prickly pear items have health benefits, as the fruit contains natural antioxidants. It is good for people who may suffer from high blood pressure.

And if you’d like to learn more, there’s even The Prickly Pear Cookbook by Carolyn Niethammer of Tucson.

Finally, if you’d like to learn more about how prickly pear products are developed, here’s a video with Cheri Romanowski, founder of Cheri’s Desert Harvest.
